Commercial Information Circular No. 89/2004

The Mainland of China : Law on Foreign Trade

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the amendments to the Law on Foreign Trade on 6 April 2004. The revised Law will come into force on 1 July 2004.

  1. According to the revised Law on Foreign Trade, foreign trade includes import and export of goods, technology and international trade in services; and trading entities can be legal persons, organizations or individuals. The revised Law sets out the situations of restricting or prohibiting import and export of goods, technology and international trade in services. Besides, it also lays down the administration on intellectual property rights relating to foreign trade, and details of foreign trade investigations and trade relief measures. A copy of the revised Law is attached at Annex (pdf format)for reference.
