The Mainland of China : Administrative Measures on Chinese-Foreign Contractual Joint Venture Enterprises on Distribution of Audiovisual Products

The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Culture promulgated the "Administrative Measures on Chinese-Foreign Contractual Joint Venture Enterprises on Distribution of Audiovisual Products", which came into force on 1 January 2004. The Administrative Measures set out the requirements and procedures of setting up chinese-foreign contractual joint venture enterprises on distribution of audiovisual products.

  1. According to the "Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement", the Administrative Measures allow Hong Kong service suppliers to set up equity joint venture enterprises distributing audiovisual products in the Mainland with effect from 1 January 2004. The investors from Hong Kong are allowed to own shares up to 70% of the total shares. For contractual joint venture enterprises, the investors from Hong Kong are also allowed to own contractual rights up to 70%.
