Commercial Information Circular No. 42/2003

The Mainland of China :Administrative Rules on Sample Inspection of Import and Export Commodities

The State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine promulgated the "Administrative Rules on Sample Inspection of Import and Export Commodities" on 31 December 2002, which will take effect from 1 February 2003.

  1. According to the Administrative Rules, sample inspection will focus on goods which concern safety, sanitary and environmental protection; receive more complaints from local and foreign consumers; have substantial quantity of returned goods; have significant quality-related problems in the past; or involve new and special technology. A copy of the Administrative Rules is attached at Annex (pdf format) for reference.
