Commercial Information Circular No. 31/2003

The Mainland of China:Safeguard Measures on Imports of Certain Steel Products

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) announced the imposition of final safeguard measures on imports of non alloy hot rolled sheets and coils, non alloy cold rolled sheets and coils, organic coated sheets, silicon-electrical steel and stainless cold rolled sheets and coils for a period of 3 years on 19 November 2002.

  1. At the request of interested parties, and based on the investigation and verification of the data provided by the interested parties, the MOFTEC issued Notice No. 6/2003 on 17 January 2003 which provided that additional duty will not apply to certain out-quota steel products from 1 February 2003. The list of such products is attached at Annex (pdf format) for reference.
     

  2. For details of the final result of the subject safeguard investigation, please refer to our CIC No. 224/02 dated 21 November 2002.
