Commercial Information Circular No. 166/2003

The Mainland of China :Preliminary Finding of Anti-dumping Investigation Against Imports of Phenol (C6H5OH) from Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Taiwan Province

The Ministry of Commerce issued Notice No. 20/2003 on 9 June 2003, announcing the preliminary finding of the anti-dumping investigation against imports of phenol (C6H5OH) from Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Taiwan Province. The relevant tariff listing of the General Administration of Customs is 2907 1110.

PRELIMINARY FINDING

  1. The preliminary finding revealed that dumping existed regarding the investigated products, with dumping margin ranged from 7% to 144%. It was found that such dumping had caused material injury to the domestic industry and that causal link existed. With effect from 9 June 2003, importers have to provide cash deposit according to the margin of dumping as guarantee to the General Administration of Customs during importation of the products concerned.

  2. Interested parties may submit written representation and supporting evidence to the Ministry of Commerce within 20 days from the date of announcement (i.e. 9 June 2003) for their consideration.
