Commercial Information Circular No. 148/2003

The Mainland of China :Adjustment of Tariff Quota Level of Silicon-Electrical Steel

The then Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation issued Notice No. 48/02 on 19 November 2002, announcing the imposition of safeguard measures on 5 types of steel products, including non alloy hot rolled sheets and coils, non alloy cold rolled sheets and coils, organic coated sheets, silicon-electrical steel and stainless cold rolled sheets and coils for 3 years since 20 November 2002. Details of the case have been set out in our CIC No. 224/02 dated 21 November 2002.

  1. The Ministry of Commerce conducted investigation during the implementation period of the safeguard measures. It issued Notice No. 13/2003 on 14 May 2003, announcing the adjustment of tariff quota level of silicon-electrical steel to 939, 424, 806 kilograms for the period 24 May 2003 to 23 May 2004. Out-quota tariff rate will remain unchanged.
