Japan :New Standards for Gasoline and Gas Oil
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan is planning two separate amendments of the ordinance of its "Law on the Quality Control of Gasoline and Other Fuels". New standards regarding the permissible sulphur content and oxygen content will be introduced to gasoline and gas oil.

The proposed new standards aim at preventing air pollution and securing public safety. The METI will promulgate the details soon. Outlines of the proposed new standards are as follows:
