Singapore : The Wholesome Meat and Fish Act 1999

The Singapore authorities have enacted the Wholesome Meat and Fish Act 1999. Under the Act, traders in Singapore who import, export or tranship meat products and fish products, and import and tranship fresh fruit and vegetables are required to be licensed by the Primary Production Department (PPD) of Singapore. For some products like frozen cooked crab meat, frozen cooked prawns, a health certificate issued by the relevant Government authorities is also required. An explanatory notes of the new requirements is at Annex.

  1. The effective date of the Act is 10 December 1999.
