US : EPA's Significant New Use Rule for Per- and Poly-Fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promulgated in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 11 January 2024 finalising a significant new use rule (SNUR) for 329 per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) that are designated as inactive on the Toxic Substances Control Act Chemical Substance Inventory. The effective date of the final rule is 11 March 2024.

DETAILS

2.Persons subject to the final SNUR are required to notify EPA at least 90 days before commencing any manufacture (including import) or processing of the chemical substance for a significant new use.
