Commercial Information Circular No. 309/2024

US : Energy Conservation Program: Test Procedure for Uninterruptible Power Supplies

The US Department of Energy (DOE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 19 April 2024 a final rule to amend the test procedure for uninterruptable power supplies (''UPSs'').

2.The DOE is amending the test procedure for UPSs to incorporate by reference relevant portions of the latest version of the industry testing standard, harmonise the current DOE definitions for UPS, total harmonic distortion, and certain types of UPSs with the definitions in the latest version of the industry standard, and add a no-load testing condition, as an optional test.

3.The effective date of this rule is 3 July 2024. The amendments will be mandatory for product testing starting 16 October 2024.
