US : Revisions to Energy Conservation Programme for Appliance Standards

The US Department of Energy (DOE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 8 April 2024 a final rule to revise its procedures, interpretations, and policies for consideration of new or revised energy conservation standards and test procedures for consumer products and certain commercial/industrial equipment.

2.In this final rule, DOE is finalising revisions concerning coverage determination rulemakings, process for developing energy conservation standards, test procedures and ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) equipment. The revisions are consistent with current DOE practice and will allow DOE to better meet its statutory obligations under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act. This rule is effective on 24 June 2024.
