Commercial Information Circular No. 902/2023

US : Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Furnaces

The US Department of Energy (DOE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 18 December 2023 a final rule to adopt amended energy conservation standards for consumer furnaces, specifically non-weatherised gas furnaces and mobile home gas furnaces.

2.The DOE has determined that the amended energy conservation standards for the subject products would result in significant conservation of energy, and are technologically feasible and economically justified. These standards apply to all subject products manufactured in or imported into the US. The effective date of this rule is 16 February 2024, and compliance with the amended standards established for the subject consumer furnaces in this final rule is required on and after 18 December 2028.
