Commercial Information Circular No. 134/2023

Chile : Sanitary Requirements for Handicrafts and Other Products of Animal Origin

The Chilean government has issued Exempt Resolution No. 6191/2022 to establish sanitary requirements for imports of handicrafts and other products of animal origin. The new requirements entered into force on 29 November 2022.

DETAILS

2.In accordance with the new requirements, imported merchandise including skulls, horns, antlers, bones, teeth, hooves, claws, nails, scales and items made with one or more of these elements or made with leather, feathers, hair, mane or bristles, such as jewellery or costume jewellery, decorative items, handicrafts, musical instruments and clothing, must be clean and dry, free of any traces of blood, flesh, skin, tendons, ligaments or remains of any type of animal or plant organic matter, and must not emit any sort of unpleasant smell associated with the decomposition process.
