Mexico : New Mandatory Standards for Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium Articles

The Mexican government has adopted new mandatory standards for gold, silver, platinum and palladium articles. The new standards NOM-033/1-SE-2020 will enter into force on 19 June 2022.

DETAILS

2.The new standards set out requirements related to classification, metal purity, purity tolerances, registration, consumer transparency, conformity assessment procedure, sampling and test methods of gold, silver, platinum and palladium articles, articles plated or covered, in whole or in part, with any of those metals as well as articles that deceptively claim to be made of, or to contain, any of these metals. Specifically, watches, pens, lighters and glasses, as well as fittings, components, parts and accessories for jewellery are excluded from the standards.
