Commercial Information Circular No. 931/2021

US : Modifications to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States

The US President issued a proclamation on 23 December 2021 modifying the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS) that are necessary or appropriate to conform the HTS to the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS Convention). These modifications were based on the recommendations by the US International Trade Commission (USITC). Details of the modifications, including technical and conforming changes to Section 301 actions, are set out in USITC's publication ''Modifications to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States under Section 1206 of the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 and for Other Purposes'' (Publication No. 5240). Most of the modifications will take effect on 27 January 2022.
