Commercial Information Circular No. 883/2021

Argentina : Amendments to Requirements for Electrical Equipment

The Argentine government published Resolution No. 1038/2021 to announce various amendments to the requirements for electrical equipment.

2.Among others, amendments have been made to expand the scope of the relevant regulations to include the following merchandise (i) LED lamps and LED-mounted modules; (ii) portable handheld tools and lawn and garden machinery powered by an electric motor; (iii) manual skin and hair care devices (e.g., shavers, massage equipment); and (iv) electrical household kitchen equipment for heating, cutting, processing or liquefying food or beverages. Meanwhile, product certification for merchandise outlined in points (ii) through (iv) would be required from 12 October 2022.

3.Importers of subject merchandise must ensure that their products comply with all applicable safety, labelling, certification and other requirements.

4.For details of the above measures and the products involved, traders are advised to consult their importers in Argentina and/or the relevant Argentine Resolution which is available at https://www.boletinoficial.gob.ar/detalleAviso/primera/250751/20211012.
