Commercial Information Circular No. 733/2021
Argentina : Reinstatement of Certification Requirements for Printed Materials
The Argentine government published Resolution No. 868/2021 to reinstate the certification requirements for (a) printed books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, whether or not in single sheets, classified under Heading 4901 of Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM); and (b) children's picture, drawing or colouring books classified under Heading 4903.
2.Relevant certification requirements are to (i) require certification for inks, lacquers and varnishes used in the graphics industry to ensure compliance of the lead content limit; and (ii) require printed materials to be sold in Argentina to obtain certification for compliance with the heavy metal migration limits.

1 The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. Membership of Venezuela has been temporarily suspended since 2 December 2016.
