Commercial Information Circular No. 302/2021
Brazil: Labelling Requirements for Personal Hygiene Products
The National Health Agency ("Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária" in Portuguese/ANVISA) of Brazil issued Technical Note No. 5/2021 to clarify the requirements of Resolution RDC No. 432/2020 that labels of personal hygiene, cosmetic and perfume products disclose the composition of the products in Portuguese. The description on the labels must comply with certain provisions including (a) the list of ingredients be preceded by the term "Composição:" "Ingredientes:", "Composição(português):" or "Ingredientes (português):"; (b) the ingredients be disclosed in Portuguese in the same order as the ingredients in the original foreign language disclosure; and (c) the term "e o corante", "e os corantes" or "Pode conter os corantes:" precede the Portuguese description of any dyes. The relevant regulations will enter into force on 5 November 2021.
