Commercial Information Circular No. 90/2020

US : Section 232 Tariffs against Imports of Certain Derivatives of Steel Articles and Aluminium Articles

Further to Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 264/2018 of 16 March 2018 regarding the US's additional tariffs of 25% and 10% on steel and aluminium products respectively imported from all countries/economies (except certain economies) effective on 23 March 2018 under the Section 232 investigation, the US President announced on 24 January 2020 to include certain derivatives of steel and aluminium products for 25% and 10% additional tariffs respectively, which will take effect on 8 February 2020 (US time).

DETAILS

2. The US imposed additional tariffs of 25% and 10% on steel and aluminium products respectively imported from all countries/economies (except certain economies) on 23 March 2018 under the Section 232 investigation. 3. On 24 January 2020, the US President announced to further include certain derivatives of steel and aluminium products for 25% and 10% additional tariffs respectively under the Section 232 investigation, which will take effect on or after 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on 8 February 2020. Certain economies (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico, etc) are exempted.
