Commercial Information Circular No. 721/2019

Argentina : Labelling Requirements for Pre-packaged Products

The Argentine government issued Resolution No. 274/2019 to update the existing labelling requirements for pre-packaged products. Both domestically-produced and imported pre-packaged products commercialised in Argentina are required to include on their packaging, wrappers or labels information on (i) the product name, (ii) country of origin, (iii) product quality, purity or mixture, and (iv) net content. This information must be in Spanish, with the exception of foreign words commonly used in commerce, trademarks and other signs.  Products sold in Argentina without being packaged must still include information on the product name, country of origin, and quality, purity or mixture.  If the nature or quality of the product can be ascertained by simple observation, then the product name and quality, purity or mixture do not need to be provided.
