Canada : Final Safeguard Measures (Tariff rate Quota) on Certain Steel Imports - Surtax (5% - 25%) for Exceeding Specified Quota
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 920/2018 dated 16 October 2018 regarding the provisional safeguards on imports of seven steel products by the Canadian Government, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) had announced the final safeguard measures on certain heavy plate and stainless steel wire, effective on 13 May 2019.
DETAILS
2.On 25 October 2018, the Government of Canada implemented provisional safeguards, in the form of tariff rate quotas (TRQ) on imports of seven steel products and the measures expired on 12 May 2019. On 10 May 2019, the CBSA announced the final safeguard measures on certain heavy plate and stainless steel wire. The final safeguards apply to imported goods from all countries except certain countries including the US, Chile, Mexico, Israel, etc.
3.The final safeguard surtax exceeding the TRQ for each class of goods is set out below:
