Commercial Information Circular No. 126/2019

US : Section 301 Tariffs on Mainland Products Worth US$34 billion – Filing Entries Subject to Product Exclusions

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 1163/2018 of 28 December 2018 regarding the first batch of products to be excluded from the additional 25% tariff imposed by the US on certain Mainland products worth approximately US$34 billion under the Section 301 investigation, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued on 8 February 2019 a guidance note on filing entries subject to product exclusions.

2.According to the guidance note, importers shall report the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) classification 9903.88.05 for imported merchandise subject to the exclusion. The product exclusions will be retroactive to the initial effective date of 6 July 2018 and remain in effect until 27 December 2019.
