Mexico : Mandatory Energy Efficiency Standards for Certain Products

The Mexican government has issued new mandatory energy efficiency standards for certain products.

2.The mandatory standards are tabulated as follows for easy reference. For details, please refer to the relevant official notices (in Spanish).

  • Standard NOM-015-ENER-2018 applies to household refrigerators, household fridges-freezers of up to 1,104 litres, and household freezers of up to 850 litres using a hermetic moto-compressor.
  • The standard is implemented by three phases, with the first phase effective on 23 June 2019.
Certain Air Conditioners http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5531685&fecha=17/07/2018
  • Standard NOM-023-ENER-2018 applies to mini-split and multi-split air conditioners with a nominal cooling capacity ranging from 1 to 19,050 Wt.
  • Effective 14 November 2018.
