Mexico : New Requirements for Certain Water Heaters and Portable Machinery

The Mexican government has adopted new requirements for certain water heaters, and portable machinery with an internal combustion motor generally for use in agricultural, forestry and household activities. The new requirements as set out in NOM-200-SCFI-2017 for water heaters and NOM-204-SCFI-2017 for portable machinery will enter into force on 20 May 2019 and 25 October 2019 respectively.

DETAILS

2.The new requirements for certain water heaters set out the definitions, classifications, technical specifications, test equipment and installation, test methods, marking and commercial information, conformity assessment procedures as well as sampling requirements covering household and commercial water heaters fulled by liquefied petroleum gas or natural gas with a thermal load no greater than 108kW. 3.For portable machinery, it covers such as lawn mowers, motorised manual hedge trimmers, chainsaws and backpack sprayers. The new requirements set out the definitions, technical specifications and test methods, marking and commercial information, and conformity assessment procedures. In addition, the subject merchandise must be marked with the model, brand and series.
