Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 401/2017

US : New Seafood Import Monitoring Program - Webinars

Commercial Information Circular No. 92/2017 dated 1 February 2017 has informed the trade of the introduction of a new Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP) by the US on permitting, reporting and recordkeeping procedures relating to the importation of certain fish and fish products identified as being at particular risk of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing or seafood fraud. The compliance date for the rule is 1 January 2018. In an effort to promote industry awareness of and compliance with the SIMP, the US authorities will host webinars during May and June to address the interests of exporters of seafood covered by the SIMP. The webinars will cover an overview of the Program, implementation timeline, traceability and supply chain data requirements for importers, and questions from participants. The timeslots of the webinars and registration information are available at http://www.iuufishing.noaa.gov/RecommendationsandActions/RECOMMENDATION1415/FinalRuleTraceability.aspx.
