Mexico : New Energy Efficiency Standards for Clothes Washers and Certain Motors

The Mexico government has issued new mandatory energy efficiency standards NOM-005-ENER-2016 and NOM-016-ENER-2016 respectively for clothes washers for household use and certain three-phase motors that is produced in or imported into Mexico. Compliance with the new standards will be required for all covered motors by 14 January 2017 and for all covered clothes washers by 14 May 2017.

DETAILS

2.The new energy efficiency standard for clothes washers includes requirements regarding specifications, test methods, labeling and conformity assessment procedures. It also sets out the minimum energy factor and maximum energy consumption threshold. 3.The new energy efficiency standard for three-phase, alternating current, induction, squirrel cage-type motors with a nominal power between 0.746 kW and 373 kW includes provisions on specifications, test methods, marking and conformity assessment.
