Commercial Information Circular No. 195/2017

Argentina : Exemption of Certain Publications from Heavy Metal Certification Requirement

The Argentine government issued Resolution No. 332/2016 on 10 November 2016 to exempt (a) graphic, drawing and colouring books and albums for children classified under Heading 4903 of Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM); and (b) newspapers, journals and periodical publications, whether with illustrations and/or advertisement or not, classified under Sub-heading 4902.90, from heavy metal certification requirements. A sworn certification including product description, tariff classification, number of imports, country of origin, and name and address of the importer must be provided for importing products under item (a) to the country.

1 The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. Membership of Venezuela has been temporarily suspended since 2 December 2016.
