US : Safety Standard for Children's Folding Chairs and Stools

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 15 December 2017 a final rule establishing a safety standard for children's folding chairs and stools.

DETAILS

2.According to Section 104(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), the Commission has allowed ASTM F2613-17a, "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Children's Chairs and Stools", developed by ASTM International, to become the mandatory standard for children's folding chairs and stools. In addition, the Commission is amending its regulations regarding third party conformity assessment bodies to include the safety standard for children's folding chairs and stools in the list of Notices of Requirements (NORs) issued by the Commission. The final rule also amends the product registration rule to identify children's folding stools, in addition to children's folding chairs, as a durable infant or toddler product for purposes of consumer product registration requirements.
