US : Mandatory Toy Standard
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 4 December 2017 a direct final rule allowing the ASTM F963–17: "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety", as developed by ASTM International, to become the mandatory toy standard.
DETAILS
2.According to Section 106 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), the Commission has allowed the update to ASTM F963, ASTM F963–17: "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety", to become the mandatory toy standard, except for one provision. The previous version is ASTM F963-16.
3.The effective date of the direct final rule is 28 February 2018. If the Commission receives significant adverse comments by 3 January 2018, it will withdraw the direct final rule before its effective date.
