US : Mandatory Toy Standard
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) has recently published in the Federal Register (FR) a direct final rule allowing the ASTM F963–16: "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety", as developed by ASTM International, to become the mandatory toy standard.
DETAILS
2.According to Section 106 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), the Commission has allowed the update to ASTM F963, ASTM F963–16: "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety", to become the mandatory toy standard. The previous version is ASTM F963-11.
3.The effective date of the direct final rule is 30 April 2017. If the Commission receives significant adverse comments by 6 March 2017, it will withdraw the direct final rule before its effective date.
