Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 515/2016
US : DOE Amends the Energy Conservation Standards for Commercial Packaged Air Conditioning and Heating Equipment and Commercial Warm Air Furnaces
The US Department of Energy (DOE) recently published a final rule to establish amended energy conservation standards for small, large, and very large air-cooled commercial package air conditioning and heating equipment, and commercial warm air furnaces. Compliance with the amended standards will be required for all covered products manufactured in or imported into the US starting on 1 January 2018 or 1 January 2023, depending on the product's specifications.
DETAILS
2.The DOE states that these standards will save more energy than any other energy efficiency standard it has issued to date and are technologically feasible and economically justified. Commercial air conditioners, also known as rooftop units, are commonly used in low-rise buildings such as schools, restaurants, big-box stores and small office buildings. These new standards will be implemented by two phases in 2018 and 2023 respectively. For more details on the amended energy standards, please refer to the Federal Register at https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2016-05-24/pdf/2016-12279.pdf.
