Commercial Information Circular No. 456/2016

Brazil : Modification of Import Tariffs and Establishment of Tariff Rate Quota on Various Products

The Brazilian government has modified the import tariffs of a number of products, and established tariff rate quota on certain imports. A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM) chapters 84 and 85 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% until 31 December 2017.

  2. Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 73, 82, 84, 85, 87 and 90 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% until 31 December 2017.

  3. Goods classified under NCM code 8607.99.00 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% until 31 December 2016.

  4. Import duty on certain moulds classified under NCM code 8480.71.00 to benefit from a reduced duty of 14%.

  5. In-quota imports of 240,780 vials of 10-gram human serum albumin classified under NCM code 3002.10.37 benefit from duty-free treatment for a period of six months until 4 October 2016, while out-of-quota tariff rate is 4%.
