Mexico : Increases Duties and Imposes Licencing Requirements on Additional Iron and Steel Products
The Mexican government recently implemented a multi-pronged strategy aimed at protecting the domestic steel sector from unfairly traded iron and steel products, in particular the imports of a range of steel products from Mainland China.

These higher duties are in place from 7 October 2015 through 4 April 2016 and apply to goods from all sources with the exception of goods imported into Mexico under a free trade agreement.
3.Mexico has also expanded its automatic import licencing regime to include 25 additional iron and steel products classified under HTSMX codes 7208.25.01, 7210.49.01, 7210.49.03, 7210.49.04, 7210.70.01, 7210.70.99, 7216.31.01, 7216.31.02, 7216.31.99, 7216.32.01, 7216.32.02, 7216.32.99, 7216.33.01, 7216.40.01, 7217.10.99, 7225.92.01, 7227.20.01, 7227.90.99, 7304.29.03, 7312.10.01, 7312.10.05, 7312.10.07, 7312.10.08, 7312.10.10 and 7312.10.99. Importers of iron and steel products subject to licencing requirements are required to provide information (such as tariff classification, quantity to be imported, value in U.S. dollars, country of origin, etc.) through Mexico's electronic single window.
