Argentina : Requirements for Certification Bodies, Inspection Bodies and Test Laboratories
The Ministry of Economy and Public Finance ("Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas Públicas" in Spanish) of Argentina issued Resolution No. 404/2015 on 29 September 2015 announcing a number of requirements for certification bodies, inspection bodies and test laboratories. In gist, they are required to (i) have a legal status in Argentina; (ii) be accredited by the Argentine Accreditation Body; (iii) assume the civil, commercial, administrative and criminal liability arising from their operations; and (iv) be covered by a civil liability insurance policy. They are also obligated to fulfill the following requirements:
Certification Bodies
- must comply with the provisions of standard IRAM ISO/IEC 17065:2013;
- must not operate as an inspection body or test laboratory;
- must hire a workforce with minimum five years of experience in conformity certification and three years of experience in the relevant sector; and
- must establish a certification committee in Argentina.
Inspection Bodies
- must comply with the provisions of standard IRAM ISO/IEC 17020:2013; and
- must not operate as a certification body or test laboratory.
Test Laboratories
- must comply with the provisions of standard IRAM 301:2005 or ISO/IEC 17025:2005; and
- must not operate as a certification or inspection body.
