Commercial Information Circular No. 556/2015

Brazil : Modification of Import Tariffs and Establishment of Tariff Rate Quota on Various Products

The Brazilian government has modified the import tariffs of a number of products, and established tariff rate quotas on certain imports.  A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM) chapters 85 and 90 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 30 April 2015 until 31 December 2015.
  2. Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 84-85, 87, and 90 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 30 April 2015 until 30 December 2016.
  3. Tariff rate quotas were modified on certain imports which would enjoy reduced import tariff treatment.  A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

(iv) 8539.39.00 discharge lamps 23,918,190 units 2 18 12 months from 23 July 2015
