Mexico : Standards for Wired Access Equipment for Connecting to Public Telecom Networks
The Mexican government has recently issued a mandatory standard for wired access terminal equipment for connecting to public telecommunications networks. The new standard (NOM-EM-015-SCFI-2015) requires subject equipment that is either produced in Mexico or imported to comply immediately with the mechanical and electrical provisions, test methods and minimum technical parameters laid out in Technical Disposition IFT-004-2014, which was issued by the Federal Institute of Telecommunications on 7 January 2015.
DETAILS
2.The new standard aimed at protecting consumers from potentially negative safety, health and economic effects derived from the inadequate performance of subject products. Mexican authorities indicate that conformity certificates for subject merchandise issued in accordance with the old standard, NOM-151-SCT1-1999, will be valid through 10 March 2016. Since the NOM-EM-015-SCFI-2015 is an emergency regulation, it will remain in place only for six months from 11 March 2015, with the possibility of being renewed for an additional six-month term.
