Commercial Information Circular No. 305/2015

Brazil : General Conformity Certification Requirements

The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decree No. 118/2015 on 6 March 2015 to modify the general requirements that are common to all product-specific conformity certification programmes.

2.The conformity certification requirements must define:

  1. Purpose (specific to the certification programme);
  1. acronym;
  1. supplementary documents;
  1. definitions;
  1. conformity assessment mechanism;
  1. conformity assessment stages;
  1. treatment of complaints;
  1. activities carried out by foreign conformity assessment bodies;
  1. certification transfers;
  1. certification completion;
  1. conformity identification stamp;
  1. authorisation to use the conformity identification stamp;
  1. responsibilities and obligations;
  1. market surveillance;
  1. penalties; and
  1. denunciation.
