US : FDA's Guidance on Children's Toy Laser Products
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the availability of the guidance entitled "Minimizing Risk for Children's Toy Laser Products". This guidance is intended to inform manufacturers of laser products, FDA headquarters and field personnel, and other interested parties of the Centre for Devices and Radiological Health's current thinking on the safety of children's toy laser products. The document also provides specific safety recommendations for the manufacture and labelling of these items. 2.The guidance covers any toy manufactured, designed, intended or promoted for use by children under 14 years old that constitutes, incorporates, or is intended to incorporate a laser or laser system. The guidance is available at http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=FDA-2012-D-1092-0005.
