Chile : Initiation of Safeguard Investigation and Imposition of Provisional Safeguard Duty on Steel Wire Rods
The Chilean government initiated the safeguard investigation on steel wire rods classified under Chilean Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSCL) codes 7213.20.00, 7213.91.10, 7213.91.20, 7213.91.90, 7227.10.00, 7227.20.00 and 7227.90.00 on 5 October 2015 and issued Exempt Resolution No. 331/2015 on 6 October 2015 to impose a provisional safeguard duty of 37.8% on the subject imports for 200 days with effective from 6 October 2015. Imports from developing countries in accordance with Article 9.1 of the World Trade Organisation Agreement on Safeguards as well as imports from Canada, Mexico and Peru are excluded from the provisional safeguard measures.
