Commercial Information Circular No. 1116/2015

Colombia : Duty-free Treatment to Certain Automotive Parts

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 234/2014 of 14 March 2014 and No. 910/2014 of 17 October 2014 regarding the tariff suspension on various vehicles and auto parts imported under an Automotive Industry Promotion Program ("Programa de Fomento para la Industria Automotriz" in Spanish), the Colombian government issued Decree No. 1567/2015 on 31 July 2015 to provide duty-free treatment to imported automotive parts and components classified under 538 tariff lines.

2.The imported automotive parts and components will be duty-free if they are to be used in domestic manufacture of vehicles or auto parts, and do not have a valid National Production Registration on the date of shipment. Production of such vehicles and auto parts that incorporate duty-free imported components must take place within 12 months from the date of importation.

3.The tariff lines for vehicles or auto parts which may receive duty-free treatment are set out in Article 3 of Decree 1567/2015, and tariff lines for products that can be manufactured using duty-free imported auto parts are set out in Article 7 of Decree 1567/2015.
