Brazil: Modification of Import Tariffs and Establishment of Tariff Rate Quota on Various Products
The Brazilian government has modified the import tariffs of a number of products, and established tariff rate quotas on certain imports. A summary of the changes is set out as follows:
- Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under Southern Common Market (Mercosur ) Common Classification (NCM) chapters 84, 85 and 90 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 23 July 2015 until 31 December 2015.
- Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 73, 82, 84-87 and 90 to benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 23 July 2015 until 31 December 2016.
- Tariff rate quota of 650,000 tonnes on unalloyed aluminium classified under NCM code 7601.10.00 has been extended from 18 August 2015 to 17 August 2016. In-quota imports will benefit from duty-free treatment, while out-of-quota tariff rate is 6%.
- Tariff rate of 35% on toys classified under NCM code 9503.00.10, 9503.00.21, 9503.00.22, 9503.00.31, 9503.00.39, 9503.00.40, 9503.00.50, 9503.00.60, 9503.00.70, 9503.00.80, 9503.00.91, 9503.00.97, 9503.00.98 and 9503.00.99 has been extended from 23 July 2015 to 31 December 2021.
