Brazil : Establishment of Tariff Rate Quota on Various Products and Modification of Import Tariffs

The Brazilian government has established tariff rate quotas on certain imports, and modified the import tariffs of a number of products. A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. Tariff rate quotas were established or modified on certain imports which would enjoy reduced or zero import tariff treatment.  A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. The description of certain electrical devices classified under NCM code 8537.20.90 Ex 002 has been amended from 5 September 2014.
  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under NCM chapters 84 and 90 would benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 12 September 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 82, 84-87, and 90 would benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 12 September 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. The following products would be removed from the list of exemptions to the Mercosur common external tariff:
