Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 962/2014
US : FDA's Proposed Changes to Preventive Controls for Human and Animal Food under Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA)
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing changes to preventive controls for human and animal food under Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA). Comments on the revised provisions are due by 15 December 2014. Relevant Federal Register notices are available at
http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-09-29/pdf/2014-22446.pdf and

DETAILS
2.FDA is proposing new ways to make the original proposals published in January 2013 more flexible, practical and targeted. For preventive controls for human and animal food, the updated proposals would require each human and animal food facility, when appropriate, to conduct product testing to verify the implementation and effectiveness of preventive controls, and environmental monitoring to verify the implementation and effectiveness of preventive controls if contamination of a ready-to-eat food with an environmental pathogen is a significant hazard. Further information on the revised provisions and the FSMA can be found at FDA's website:
http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/FSMA/default.htm.
