Commercial Information Circular No. 910/2014
Colombia : Tariff Suspension on Various Vehicles and Auto Parts
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 234/2014 of 14 March 2014 regarding the tariff suspension on various vehicles and auto parts imported under an Automotive Industry Promotion Program ("Programa de Fomento para la Industria Automotriz" in Spanish), the Colombian government issued Resolution No. 150/2014 on 17 July 2014 to set out the following requirements and details of the Program:
- a production certificate must be issued by the programme beneficiary demonstrating the incorporation of the imported goods;
- the agencies involved in certifying the claims made by the manufacturer;
- documentation required to establish that goods to be imported would qualify for duty-free treatment under the programme;
- a monitoring system for the imported goods once they enter the country; and
- establish penalties for companies that fail to follow programme requirements or make inaccurate claims.
