Commercial Information Circular No. 894/2014

Brazil : Temporary Reduction in Import Tariffs for Capital Goods, Information Technology and Telecommunications Products

This circular supersedes Commercial Information Circular No. 387/2012 issued on 29 May 2012.

2. The Brazilian Government issued a Resolution No. 66/2014 on 15 August 2014 to provide a set of rules for temporary reduction in import tariffs for capital goods, information technology and telecommunications products, and their spare parts and components which have no domestic production in Brazil by means of "Ex-tarifario" regime. The Resolution came into force on 15 August 2014.

3. The temporary reduction in the import tariff and will be effective for up to 2 years. It will not apply to used products or integrated systems. Companies may apply to the Production Development Secretariat (or "Secretaria de Desenvolvimento da Produção" in Portuguese) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) of Brazil for temporary reduction of import tariffs, and the approved list will be published by the end of each quarter.
