Commercial Information Circular No. 771/2014

Brazil : Modification of Import Tariffs on Various Products

The Brazilian government has modified the import tariffs of a number of products, and established tariff rate quotas on certain imports. A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM) codes 8517.62.39 Ex003, 8517.62.41 Ex001 and 8542.39.19 Ex002 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 23 June 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under NCM chapters 84, 85 and 90 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 1 July 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 84-86 and 90 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 23 June 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. Certain capital goods classified under NCM chapters 73, 84-87 and 90 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 1 July 2014 until 31 December 2015.
  1. Duties for the following products will be revised with effect from 8 July 2014:
