Ecuador : Monitoring Mechanism on Imports
The Ecuadorian government issued Resolution No. 16/2014 on 23 May 2014 to establish a monitoring mechanism for imports which may threaten to cause injury to domestic production or delay in the establishment of domestic production. The surveillance may be initiated by the Ecuadorian government or requested by the domestic industry, and will be in place for twelve months .
2.Importers are required to submit surveillance documents which specify, among other information, the CIF value and quantity of the imports, to the Ecuadorian Investigation Authority for validation. Imports with the unit price, value or quantity vary up to 5% as specified in the surveillance documents will be released, but the Ecuadorian government may set a difference percentage, which shall not exceed 10% as a general rule.
