US : Countervailing Action against Calcium Hypochlorite from the Mainland of China : Preliminary Affirmative Countervailing Duty Determination

The US Department of Commerce (DoC) announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 27 May 2014 the preliminary affirmative determination that countervailable subsidies were being provided to producers and exporters of calcium hypochlorite from the Mainland of China. The countervailing duty rates was found to be 71.72%. The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-05-27/pdf/2014-12157.pdf.

2.On 24 March 2014, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) already issued its preliminary affirmative determination that there was a reasonable indication that an industry in the US was materially injured by reason of imports of calcium hypochlorite from the Mainland of China. The investigation will now proceed to the final phase. The final countervailing duty determination of the DoC is scheduled to be issued no later than 29 September 2014, unless postponed. If the final determination of the DoC is affirmative, the ITC will make its final determination on whether an industry in the US is materially injured, or threatened with material injury, by reason of imports of calcium hypochlorite from the Mainland of China within 45 days after the DoC's final determination.
