Commercial Information Circular No. 452/2014
US : Changes to Textile Fiber Products Identification Act
Pursuant to Commercial Information Circular No. 379/2013 of 15 May 2013 that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) procposed to amend the rules and regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act ("Textile Rules"), the FTC announced in the Federal Register (FR) of 4 April 2014 the final amendments to the Textile Rules. The Textile Rules has come into force on 5 May 2014.
2.The amendments to the Textile Rules include:

incorporate the updated International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 2076:2010(E) establishing generic fiber names for manufactured fibers;
- allow certain hang-tags providing fiber information without disclosing the product's full fiber content;
- clarify that an imported product's country of origin is the country where the product was processed or manufactured;
- better address electronic commerce with revised definition of the terms "invoice" and "invoice or other paper"; and
- udpate the gurantee provisions.
