Commercial Information Circular No. 379/2014
Uruguay : Establishment of Authorised Economic Operator Programme
The Uruguayan government issued Decree No. 1470/2014 on 28 February 2014 to establish the Authorised Economic Operator ("Operador Economico Authorizado" in Spanish / OEA) Programme.
2.Benefits of certified OEA include:
- acknowledged as a partner that guarantees security and protection;
- recognised internationally of the OEA status in countries which Uruguay signed Mutual Recognition Agreement with;
- application of simplified customs procedures;
- less post-entry control;
- possibility of being exempted from customs controls regarding valuation;
- granting of guarantees whenever applicable;
- fewer physical and document inspections;
- priority in physical and document verifications;
- priority in participating in new programmes; etc
Details of the benefits are listed in Article 11 of Decree No. 1470/2014.
3.Parties who would like to be certified as OEA must comply with the requirements and undergo verification as listed in Article 12 of Decree No. 1470/2014. The OEA Certificates will be valid for three years and may be renewed.
